Statement of Faith

RHEMA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL STATEMENT OF FAITH

THERE IS ONLY ONE TRUE GOD

We believe that there is one God, the Creator and Upholder of all things, who is eternal as: Father, Son, Holy Ghost. (Matthew 28:19; I John 5:7-8)

THE DIVINITY OF JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ is the virgin born son of God, the true God and the true man, who died to take upon himself the punishment for the sins of mankind, who rose bodily from the dead, and who will return to the earth in power and glory. (Colossians 2:9; Philippians 2:5-11; Luke 1:29-35; I John 2:2; I Peter 1:3; I Thessalonians 4:16-17)

THE SCRIPTURE INSPIRED

We believe that the Bible is the only inspired infallible authoritative source of Christian doctrine and precept. (I Timothy 3:16; II Peter 2:21)

THE FALL AND REDEMPTION OF MAN

We believe that man was created good and upright, but by his own volition, transgressed. His only hope of redemption is through the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ. (Genesis 1:26; Ephesians 1:7; Romans 3:23)

THE SALVATION OF MAN

We believe in salvation through Jesus Christ alone and in the regeneration of the believer by the renewing of the Holy Spirit and in justification by grace through faith. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Romans 6:23; Galatians 2:16-17)

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit lives in all Christians and is available to reveal truth, produce spiritual fruit, and impart spiritual gifts. (John 14:26; Galatians 5:22-23; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 12:4-11)

ETERNAL LIFE

We believe in a bodily resurrection of life for the saved and resurrection of damnation for the lost. (John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:12-13)

THE BODY OF CHRIST

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in Jesus Christ. (Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 4:16)

MARRIAGE

We believe marriage is between one man and one woman.

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complimentary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26-27). Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Genesis 2:18-25). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (I Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4). We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, and the use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matthew 15:18-20; I Corinthians 6:9-10). We believe that in order to preserve the function and integrity of Rhema Christian School as the local Body of Christ, and to provide a biblical role model to its members and the community, it is imperative that all persons employed by Rhema Christian School in any capacity, or who serve as volunteers, agree to and abide by this Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality (Matthew 5:16; Philippians 2:14-16; I Thessalonians 5:22). We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Romans 10:9-10; I Corinthians 6:9-11). We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Rhema Christian School.

STATEMENT ON THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Psalm 139)

STATEMENT ON THE FINAL AUTHORITY FOR MATTERS OF BIBLICAL INTERPRETATION

The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For the purposes of Rhema Christian School’s faith, doctrine, practice, and discipline, our Executive Committee of the School Board is Rhema Christian School’s final interpretative authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
